Find Your Alternator — Fitment Guide
Every JS Alternators unit is built for an exact vehicle and engine. Find yours in under a minute — and if your build is unusual, don't guess: a fitment specialist will confirm it for you.
Step 1 — Use the vehicle search
On the home page you'll see the vehicle search bar. Work left to right:
- Select Make — 39 makes, Acura to Volvo
- Select Model
- Select Engine Size — e.g. 5.3L V8. Check your engine cover or door-jamb sticker if unsure; some models also ask about trim details like heated seats, because they change the alternator.
- Select Year
- Hit Search — you land on the alternator built for that exact combination.
The site remembers your vehicle in the Garage (tab on the right edge), and product pages confirm fitment against your saved vehicle.
Step 2 — Pick your amperage
On your vehicle's page, choose the Amperage option — most platforms offer 250 and 320 amp; about a third also offer 370 and 400 amp. Not sure which you need? Use the Alternator Amperage Sizing Chart — it maps your system's RMS wattage to the right tier in one table.
Or browse by category
- Alternators — the full high output line
- Billet Alternators — GM 1996–2024 billet in 8 colors, with regulator options including 15.5V/16V lithium
- Slingshot Alternators — Polaris Slingshot 2014–2024, bolt-in
- Bracket Kits — dual and triple alternator setups
- Wiring Kits — Big 3 upgrade kits and vehicle-specific battery cable kits
- Batteries — AGM and lithium banks to match your build
- Accessories — regulators, pulleys, harnesses, lugs
Why the wrong alternator isn't a small mistake
An alternator that "almost fits" or is undersized for your system doesn't just underperform — it sags voltage at full volume, starves your amplifiers, overheats its regulator, and shortens battery life. That's how you end up with clipped output, a fried regulator, and a return shipment. Sixty seconds with the vehicle search — or one phone call — is the difference.
When to talk to a fitment specialist first
- Marine or motorcycle applications (built to order — not in the online catalog)
- Diesel engines other than the listed 12v Cummins
- Engine swaps, custom brackets, or aftermarket accessory drives
- Systems over 3,400W RMS, or more wattage than your platform's amperage cap
- Your exact year/make/model/engine doesn't appear in the search
Talk to a real person: call (888) 245-3680, or hit the chat bubble in the corner — tell us the year, make, model, engine, and your system's RMS wattage, and we'll confirm the exact unit. No guesswork, ever.
